Lagos residents may go through the 2020 Christmas without their now favourite Lake rice.
This was revealed on Wednesday by Ms. Abisola Olusanya, the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture.

Olusanya who spoke on a TVC programme monitored on Wednesday September 9, 2020, said the flood which struck Kebbi State last week, will definitely affect rice harvest this year.

It could be recalled that Lake rice is a partnership between Lagos and Kebbi state governments. It was entered in 2016 between former Governors Ambode of Lagos State and Bagudu of Kebbi State.

Already, the Federal Government which had high hopes earlier in the year that the Buhari administration was succeeding on efforts to boost local rice production as part of measures to stop food importation, has lamented the loss of six lives, thousands of flooded hectares of land and an estimated economic losses of more than #10billion worth of rice farms in Kebbi State.
